Biglaw’s Starting A Talent War In Miami

“We’re starting to see a flight to quality. We have a new breed of firms in Miami, and you always want to play for the Yankees. If you have an opportunity to move up the food chain, a lot of people want to take that.”

— Florida legal recruiter Josh Dull spoke to Bloomberg Law about the booming Miami legal market. A number of Biglaw firms — Quinn Emanuel, Kirkland, Sidley, King & Spalding, Winston & Strawn — have all recently decided to expand their footprints in the city. These mega players in the market are luring talent away from local firms and a talent war is afoot. He continued, “I don’t think Miami will ever replace Wall Street. That’s ludicrous for anyone to think. But companies are moving here; talent’s moving here. It’s going to be fun to watch.”
