Steve Bannon Found Guilty of Contempt of Congress for Defying Jan. 6 Subpoena

Steve Bannon was found guilty on two counts of contempt of Congress on Friday for defying a House subpoena for information on his possible role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The jury convicted Bannon, a former top adviser to former President Donald Trump, after 2.5 hours of deliberations following a week-long trial that featured just two witnesses, both from the government. After U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols of the District of Columbia barred many of the defenses Bannon’s legal team sought to use in his defense, his lawyers opted not to put on their own case.
