Attorneys who would like to be considered for the role of New York’s next chief judge have until Aug. 29 to submit an application to the state’s Commission on Judicial Nomination, the commission announced in a news release Friday.
The commission, which will consider attorneys who have been admitted to practice in New York for at least 10 years, noted in the press release that it has in the past nominated “a wide variety of lawyers, including private practitioners, public interest attorneys, law professors, government officials and sitting federal and state judges.”
