Buchalter Announces New Office in Denver

DENVER, CO—Buchalter is pleased to announce it has opened a new office in Denver, Colorado with the addition of six attorneys and other professional staff. Shareholders Robert Hinckley, Scott Evans, and Steve Segal join in Denver with the addition of Attorney Sarah Andrzejczak who joins with Hinckley. Also joining the new office is Michael Williamson, Shareholder and Firm-wide Chair of Buchalter’s Real Estate and Community Development Practice along with Of Counsel Michael Flynn.

Williamson’s practice includes equity and debt finance, tax credits, opportunity zones, real estate fund formation, syndicated investments, and portfolio and syndicated credit facilities. Flynn applies his unique background as the former Acting General Counsel of HUD, and the former General Counsel of PNC Mortgage and Flagstar Bank, to counsel clients on a variety of regulatory, mortgage, consumer financial services, FinTech and real estate matters.

Under Bass’s leadership, Buchalter has grown to 400 attorneys and added approximately 350 staff members, and opened offices in Napa Valley, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and now Denver. This strategic expansion plan has allowed the firm to thrive.

Hinckley will become Managing Shareholder of the Denver office. A former prosecutor, Hinckley is an effective trial lawyer with first-chair experience in more than forty jury trials as well as numerous bench trials and arbitrations. Hinckley has litigated and tried cases in Colorado, California, Florida, and elsewhere for a diverse group of business clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small and medium-sized privately held companies. He specializes in commercial litigation, including initiating and defending all manner of contractual disputes as well as trade secret, defamation, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference, and other business-centered torts. Hinckley also has a significant employment practice on behalf of employers.

As a member of the Litigation Practice group, Evans helps businesses and their principals resolve a wide range of commercial disputes, including contract disputes, statutory compliance, commercial matters, business torts, and real estate litigation. He represents local business owners, national chains, and investors in intra-business disputes, as well as certain administrative matters involving regulatory agencies. Further, he conducts internal corporate and governmental agency investigations calling on his previous experience as a federal investigator. Evans is also experienced third-party neutral as he is a panelist for the American Arbitration Association Commercial Law Section and an Associate of the College of Commercial Arbitrators.

Segal joins the Corporate Practice group focusing on a broad range of business and transactional matters that include mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity financings, fund formation, and technology and other commercial transactions. Segal represents start-up, emerging growth and mature operating companies in industries such as data security, technology, health care, food and beverage, consumer products and services, business-to-business services, media and entertainment, financial services, manufacturing, and distribution His clients also include venture capital funds, strategic investors and high net worth individuals. He serves as outside general counsel to most of his clients and as strategic adviser to their executive officers and boards of directors.

Buchalter’s expansion into Colorado deepens the Firm’s expertise as it taps into the growing life sciences, technology, and energy and natural resources industries.
