An Influence Scheme, Claims of Another Leak Roil Supreme Court

A news report about a religiously motivated scheme to influence U.S. Supreme Court justices has reignited calls for a code of ethics for the nation’s high court.

The New York Times on Nov. 19 reported that former anti-abortion activist Rob Schenck said he used conservative donors to his former evangelical organization, Faith and Action, to ingratiate themselves in particular with the late Justice Antonin Scalia, and Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito Jr. through dinners, prayer meetings and other social events in what Schenck called “Operation Higher Court.”
